Ruth McCurdy – Ruth McCurdy Photography 

For my birthday this year, I decided to get family photos done as we did to have any since our three young adult children were little. The challenge was finding the time to gather all 5 of us in one place! Right from the beginning, Ruth was extremely accommodating and was even willing to do our photo shoot on Thanksgiving Monday. 

The first thing I noticed when we arrived was the beauty of her location which included, historical buildings, a vintage plow, gardens, corn fields, grape vines, trees and babbling brook to name a few items. Ruth has a very relaxed way about her and immediately began to engage and take an interest in each member of the family. Some of them were a bit reluctant to be there and it was wonderful to see how she made them more comfortable and they began to relax with the photo shoot. 

Ruth took hundreds of pictures, quickly switching from one camera to another. When we got our proofs to review, I was surprised at how many were taken both of formal shots and also informal ones. These were the ones when we didn’t even realize that the camera was still clicking away. Some of my favourite shots came from moments that were not setup and posed in the more formal way. I could tell you that she had an eye for detail as she would often adjust us a certain way or break off a branch that was sticking in someone’s face. This clearly came through as we reviewed the photos she sent us. 

Taking the photos is only part of the process and Ruth continued her attention to detail by going through them all pulling out the best ones or us to look at booth in print and digital. This is where Ruth went well beyond what she was paid for and in many ways this was really the gift to me. Ruth stated that she had a lot of fun working with my family but I feel part of it is her passion and joy capturing moments for individuals and families. 

I would recommend Ruth McCurdy to anyone who is looking for a photographer who will go above and beyond expectations. This is in addition to her beautiful location and the professional manner that she brings to her work. Ruth really does “Capture Moments in Time” and this Mama’s heart couldn’t be more thrilled with how she did just that!

I just wanted you to know you have an amazing talent. A lot of people don’t have it and wish they did. I only know a handful of people that in my opinion have this talent. I know you don’t me and we have only talked a couple times but I really think you definitely have a gift to capture all the amazing details that you do. I will continue to support your amazing talent.

We asked Ruth to take a few family photos when our oldest son came home for a visit thinking we just wanted some snapshots. We go so much more! We knew she was a wonderful photographer of beautiful birds and nature, but we are so pleased of her awesome eye for our family photo. She took the extra time to arrange a lovely variety of settings. We love the photos and will recommend her for anyone looking for professional photos with that extra personal flare.

Our family was introduced to Ruth McCurdy Photography this fall when we recieved a family photo shoot. Ruth was fantastic to work with. We found her to be very patient, kind and willing to go above and beyond to make her clients happy. 

Ruth captured so many beautiful shots of our family. Not only are the photos gorgeous but, she was so good with our shy two year old and hyper dog. We have definitely found our family photographer and would recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer.
